Technology for Social Good: How Tech Professionals & Companies Can Support Social Impact

December 3, 2019 @ 6:00 pm

Free

Technology has the potential to positively impact our lives by improving access and connection. Simultaneously, our rapid, tech-fueled growth also creates challenges (affordability, mobility) that disproportionately disadvantage many in our community. Like any modern city, Austin must address issues of social equity and opportunity while ensuring the city benefits from the advantages technology brings.

Tech sector professionals who are enjoying the success and growth of Austin may not be fully aware of the depth of challenges faced by many Austinites, or what they can do to help. This event is designed to present tech-related topics that take a different approach to social good. Our goal is to get you to think differently and (ultimately) to get you to act differently.

Featuring speakers:

Samantha Snabes: re:3D
Meme Styles: Measure Austin
Steve Wanta: Just
Allison Hannel: AT&T

In this special event, you will learn from our presenters:

  • How to create technology enabled products and services that achieve positive social impact
  • How to leverage your personal tech skills and interests to volunteer and contribute to social good
  • How tech companies and organizations can adopt business models and practices that support social good
